Once the final interior is approved, we kick off the audiobook publishing process. You'll receive an audiobook questionnaire from us, where we'll gather information about your preferred narrator's gender, accent, and other preferences. Additionally, we'll ask you to identify any words needing special pronunciation and provide any other special instructions you might have.
We kick off the process by opening a casting call to over 500 professional narrators, ensuring a diverse pool of talent. Interested narrators will submit five-minute auditions for your consideration. Typically, you'll have the opportunity to review between five to ten different auditions. This step usually spans seven to ten business days, allowing plenty of time for thorough evaluation and selection.
Once a narrator is chosen, the recording process begins. If your book is divided into chapters, each will be recorded individually. We provide you with the raw audio recordings to review for any misreads or errors. Any necessary edits are then re-recorded. You'll receive a changes form to document all required modifications.
Once you give the thumbs up for the raw audio, we add music to the beginning and end. Then, we listen carefully to each word, fixing any breathing sounds or lip smacks and making sure the pace is good. We also remove any other annoying noises.
Next, we mix everything together nicely to make it sound warm and cozy, using special tools. Finally, we make sure the audio meets all the rules for audiobooks, so it's ready to be accepted by audiobook platforms.
Once we finish editing, we'll send you the final audiobook to check out. When you're happy with how it sounds and give it the thumbs up, we'll send it out to stores. That way, your work is accessible to a broader audience of eager listeners, and more people can listen to your awesome book!
